We were excited to have our 20 week check up this past week with an ultra sound as well. Baby Steely is growing well, does not weigh a pound yet but is right where it should be. Its heart beat did go up since our last heart beat screening from 146 to 152. Not that it really matters but it falls right in the middle of is it a girl or boy heart beat?
We did receive a few pictures from our ultrasound but since we did not want to find out the gender we could only take home head shots with us. Our baby liked to show off its frontal face shot instead of a nice profile look. So kind of creepy but amazing that a baby is growing inside of me.
Drew got to feel the baby kick for the first time this past week as well. I have been able to feel the baby move for a few weeks now and when I finally get to relax on the couch after a busy day at work the baby likes to kick up a storm. It will be interesting to see how powerful the kicks will get since I can already feel them so often already.
I cant believe I have grown so much already even though people still think I look small for being 21 weeks. I don't even remember being that small at week 4. I have officially boxed up all my clothes that no longer fit and hope to see them again within the next year.
Drew and I have known the name choices for a while but finally decided to share them with the world. It is exciting not finding out what we are having and we will be ecstatic to be able to see which name will be used around October 4th. The names were not to hard to think of, both first names we have liked for many years and the middle name comes from a friend who passed away way to young. If we have a girl, she will be Ember Morgan Steely and if we have a boy, he will be Wesley Sheppard Steely. Ember was actually a girl in one of Drew's college classes and once he told me her name back our Junior year we both fell in love with it, and of course Wesley is a family name which I have always loved.
Hello Baby Steely. It is so weird to see a picture like this and know that this baby is actually able to be created inside of me. The ultra sound tech made us close our eyes when she checked down below so no cute full body shots but I do love that our baby loves to she off its face. The ultra sound tech would try to get the baby to move but it would just curl up into a ball and then relax back in the same position. Maybe we will have a stubborn baby. lol Baby Steely did have all good measurements and everything that was supposed to be there was there. It was neat to be able to see colored brain movements, the heart and its four chambers pump, and how the umbilical cord works and see different colors flow though so they could check to make sure all was going well.
Keep posted for more updates!! Next up baby registry time!
